BBM released its latest weekly list of
Top 30 TV programs viewed by Canadians. This is their rankings for
the period of November 19 to 25:
Notes:
The “+/-” is calculated as the difference in the Average Minute
Audience between current week and the previous week. The “% ∆”
is calculated as the percentage change in the Average Minute Audience
between the two weeks. A (-) denotes the program not
appearing in the previous week's Top 30 programs.
Notes
from BBM Canada:
"This chart shows the Top 30 TV programs for all national
networks and Canadian English specialty networks for the week
indicated. Programs are ranked based on their AMA...The chart also
indicates the broadcast outlet on which the program aired and the
program’s start and end time (shown in Eastern Time)."
Demographic: All Persons 2+.
*This week, this program was aired on
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
The audience difference and percent
change for all 2012 Grey Cup events are being compared to last year's.
The final estimate of the Grey Cup game is now slightly
lower at 5.464 million from the overnight rating of 5.478 million. The 100th Grey Cup viewership is the highest for any Grey Cup game on English language television. Earlier, I broke down the year-by-year viewership of the Grey Cup since 2002.
All three Grey Cup programs ended up being the most watched programs for that week. The Grey Cup countdown show and the post game event saw higher growth than the actual game.
The significant drop in audience for the Big Bang Theory and Two and Half Men on Thursday occurred due to show repeats during American Thanksgiving. A rerun of the Big Bang Theory still managed to be the most popular non-Grey Cup program. Although Flashpoint was a new episode, airing it on U.S. Thanksgiving still seemed to have a negative effect as its viewership dropped by nearly 16% from the previous week.
Dragons' Den appears on the Top 30 list for the second week in a row, which is a first for the Canadian reality show this season.
CTV Evening News Weekend dropped by 16%, primarily due to the Grey Cup being played at the same time. So, CTV 6 PM weekend news should have returned to its normal audience size this past week.
